Paddington Social

Café. Bakery. Pop-up kitchen.

As explorers of cuisine we are always seeking for creative food, ordinary dishes that are prepared in innovative ways. So we paid a visit to Paddington Social, a homely Queenslander-turned-café at the corner of Given Terrace and Alenxandra Street in Paddington.

Intriguingly, Pad Social’s location at the junction of two streets coincides with their culinary approach – fusing different cuisines into a unique menu of Western-Asian dishes. Our favourite is the Chilli Scrambled Egg on Toast, a bold twist of the traditional breakfast with the addition of chilli oil. That might sound repulsive to some, but the flavour blend is surprisingly superb.

Also wanting something more familiar, we ordered the Eggs Benedict, with salmon and poached eggs on hot butter-toasted English muffins, covered with a liberal amount of creamy house-made hollandaise sauce. The added garnish of crisp kale is a bonus pleasure.

Paddington Social also serves a range of scones, muffins, and croissants to go with their coffee. We didn’t order any pastry, but we did have a cuppa and some cold brew coffee. The flat white was nice but not anything out of the ordinary.
