Thai Naramit
Magical. Thai. Experience. Thai Naramit 🌟🍲🍃
The restaurant known for its authentic Thai cuisine and beautiful dining space. As with some Thai restaurants, Thai Naramit has a standard menu for all diners and a special Thai menu – which you can request - for the culinarily adventurous.
From the Thai menu, we order a Somtum Combo, the Thai traditional papaya salad mixed with fermented crab and anchovy, plus additional sides of Issan sausages, Thai-styled fried chicken wings, fish cake, vermicelli, and pork meatballs.
With Thai dishes, often you get to pick how spicy you want. For those who are comfortable with a bit of spice, we recommend a spicy level of 3.
The way to eat it, we are told, is to mix everything together. That way you can taste the full spectrum of flavours – spicy, sweet, sour, and savoury. The crunchy papaya strips also went deliciously well with the crispy chicken wings and chewy fish cakes. Such diversity of flavours and textures is what makes this dish appetising.
The Issan sausages have a slight sour tinge, which some might find a bit peculiar.
We also order a Thai Vermicelli Salad with Mackerel, mixed with exotic shrimp dressing. The dressing comes separately, so you can mix as much as suits your taste. Again, with the salad you get a nice balance of flavours. We suggest going easy with the sauce as it can get salty if you pour too much. The leftover sauce can be an exquisite dipping for the mackerel as well.
Our favourite main dish is the Spicy Crispy Morning Glory with Prawn condiment. One of the tastiest yet mostly missing from Western Thai menu, morning glory is not something you get served every day in a Thai restaurant. The prawn condiment is beautifully subtle and mild, with a sour undertone.
For desserts, we have the famous Mango with Sticky Rice, as well as a Coconut Ice-cream Sandwich. Summer is ripe with sweet, soft mangoes. That’s why it’s a good idea to have mango desserts. The sticky rice is bursting with rich, creamy coconut flavours, and with sweet mango makes a perfect combination. If you enjoy something colder, the Coconut Ice-cream Sandwich makes a refreshing conclusion to the meal.
The quality of the dishes definitely justifies the price at Thai Naramit. We would definitely visit again.
