Top authentic Vietnamese restaurants in Brisbane
Vietnamese cuisine is rich with fresh ingredients and unique flavours. The pho always inhabits a place in everyone's list of favourite noodle soups. In this blog, we'll rank some of Brisbane's most authentic Viet places.
1. Buncha Buncha
The Vietnamese bun cha has gained new global fame when Obama was videoed trying it in Hanoi. Now at Buncha Buncha, you can try this popular Northen dish, alongside other tasty, unique Vietnamese street eats such as bo ne (Vietnamese sizzling steak), stew beef with bread roll, and bun dau mam tom (combination tofu with shrimp paste). Buncha's one of the very few Viet places in Brisbane where you can explore more exotic and authentic dishes at an undeniably affordable price.
Location: 8/405 Logan Rd Stone Corner
2. Cafe O-mai & Pho Queue
Cafe O-mai is one of Brisbane's endeared breakfast-and-lunch, popular for its innovative infusion of flavours and authentic Vietnamese phos. Alongside traditional phos and banh mis on the menu, you'll also find a blend of hybridised Western-Vietnamese recipes such as the aunty five's claypot with sausage. While we wouldn't necessarily call Cafe O-mai a cheap eat, that doesn't put off loyal customers, and the place is usually found full to the gills.
Also from the same owners, Pho Queue takes the making of their already delicious Southern Vietnamese style pho to the next level with their 27-hour ‘Luxury’ Broth Pho that’s made with a ridiculous amount of bones, creating an incredibly deep-flavoured smooth soup.
Location: 15 Cracknell Rd, Annerley

3. Bahn Mi Factory
Banh Mi Factory started out as market stall at the Eagle Farm Markets in 2014 with a vision to bring the flavours of Vietnamese street foods to Brisbane. Today, you can still find them at the Carseldine Markets as well as their recently-opened store in Zillmere. You can expect high quality Banh Mi, Pho, Spring Rolls, and more from this family-run business at great value. Plus, they also provide catering for meetings, functions and special events.
Location: 1/235 Zillmere Rd, Zillmere QLD 4034

4. Quan Thanh
While Vietnamese cuisine is known for the street foods and the pho, homely family dishes also make up a large part of Vietnam's culinary culture. These are simple dishes, cooked at home as part of a family dinner and usually eaten with steam rice. They are also what makes Quan Thanh special. The long-established restaurant in West End serves up common Vietnamese household dishes such as hot and sour soup, clay pot fish, and grilled marinated pork chop.
Location: 75 Hardgrave Road, West End
5. An Cafe
Tucked in a quiet corner in Main Street, Kangaroo Point, An Cafe has gradually grown to be a local favourite. The menu is short, with a few staple dishes such as pho and banh mi, but instead they choose to focus on the quality of the food. An Cafe also excels at vegan foods, with the vegan pho being a popular choice.
Location: 738 Main St, Kangaroo Point

6. Ngon Brisbane
With a motto like “Vietnamese food cooked with heart”, you know you can expect comforting rustic food that’s just filled with soul. A little family-run shop in the heart of Paddington, Ngon stands out by offering a combination of modern yet authentic interpretation of Vietnamese cuisine with an emphasis on fresh, good quality ingredients.
Location: 233 Given Terrace, Paddington

7. Pho Hung
The ever-crowded Pho Hung is a stalwart in the Sunnybank dining scene, dishing up steamy bowls of beef or chicken noodle soup. It's the go-to choice for the pho cravers, not just those living in the vicinity but also the visitors coming from far away.
Location: 319 Mains Rd, Sunnybank

8. Rice Paper Vietnamese Cuisine
Their location, hidden behind Warrigal Square Shopping Centre, doesn't stop visitors from crowding the place every day throughout the week. Without a fancy interior or a great view, the quality of the food speaks for itself. At Rice Paper you can enjoy some of the most authentic beef noodle soups, including the Hue spicy beef noodle soup, which is arguably the best in town. Despite a comprehensive menu, very few dishes disappoint.
Location: Warrigal Square Shopping Centre, 261 Warrigal Road, Eight Mile Plains
